Room One's class timetable

This is our weekly class timetable that is updated each week.  

Spelling

Room 17 are our buddy class and they come into our class every Friday morning to test us on our spelling. If we know our spelling words we then get a new list to glue into our spelling books to go home. 

We really enjoy the seniors coming to our class. They are very helpful!

Samoan Language week

Room 1 learnt some new samoan language such as...

Talofa! : Hello!

Tofa! : Good bye!

We also made up our own Sasa about getting ready for school and performed it at our Kowhai team assembly.

PMP

PMP is a school based programme. Through movement and motor experiences, your child's perceptions and understandings of themselves in relation to their physical world is developed. PMP supports the following skills required for successful formal learning,   Auditory - Visual - Motor - Social - Language - Memory.

Term 2

Welcome back!

We had a great start to term two with a few new updates! 

We have two new student's in Room 1, Raymond and Karina.  They have had a great start to school.  Our older students have been fantastic role models and have shown great Awhi and Manaakitanga to our new students by making sure they are well looked after in class time, morning tea and lunch times.   

Sunny is back after her big holiday in China, Room 1 were very excited to have you back Sunny!

Our strand focus for Maths in term two is Statistics.  Here we are making a Pict-o-graph of Room 1's favourite foods.

Sean is extending his number knowledge.  Figuring out what make's up a 'teen' number.   We will be revisiting this again in the upcoming week.  We need to learn the difference between a 'teen' number (thir'teen') and a 'ty' number (thir'ty').  

We made a beautiful enormous heart for our Big Aroha waiata. 

Room 1 have been learning about addition and subtraction. 

We're using the tens frames to add to ten and working as a team to solve a few problems.

We are curious learners

We are curious learners! 

Room 1 are learning how to use describing words in our writing to make it more interesting. 

We grabbed some magnifying glasses and went exploring to look for some wiggly worms. Did you know that 'wiggly' is a describing word. 

Unfortunately we didn't find any worms but we found so much more! 

 

What does Maths look like in Room 1?

 

Kritya know's that if she had five dinosaur eggs and one egg got eaten.
There would only be 4 dinosaur eggs left.  

We are learning how to take away from 5.

 Discovery  

 Kowhai team have Discovery every Wednesday. Each class have 4-5 exciting activities based around an interesting topic. 

Pinithi is exploring some interesting things in Room 4.
